I am planning to learn both japanese and chinese at portland state university. i'm curious as to what language i should pursue first to get a better grasp. Should i learn japanese or chinese? in the 1980s, i would have said you'd need to learn japanese to speak to our new asian overlords. and today?. Learning asian languages such as mandarin chinese or japanese continue to be on a huge growth curve, with many foreigners trying to decide how to select one or the other..
